Reflecting On 2018 & What To Expect In 2019

Reflecting On 2018 & What To Expect In 2019

I can’t quite believe we are about to head into 2019. I honestly feel like this year has flown by! 2018 has been a whirlwind of emotions. For me 2018 started in a lull, a week into January and I was feeling horrible. I already wanted to press the reset button. Which is a sad thing to say regardless of the time of year. We had just experienced an unforgettable Christmas and reality was hitting home hard. Jack and I took almost a month off of work to visit New York City and then spent the remainder of our vacation stuffing our faces with food, visiting family, friends, and enjoying all the Christmas festivities. Before I knew it I was back in the office tapping away on my keyboard responding to emails.

I must admit although we both headed back to work early January we are very fortunate for where we are today and have both worked very hard to be in our current positions both professionally and personally. Saying this everyone has there moments and January was a hard month for me; we had no up-coming plans, and had no real idea what 2018 had in store for us; but as January passed I brightened up and began to plan a few events for us both to look forward too. Starting with our wedding anniversary in March! On the off chance I enquired about making dinner reservations at The Hand & Flowers in Marlow; a Michelin star restaurant owned by Tom Kerridge. Maybe it’s just me but having little events to look forward too always perks me up.

P.S. If you are looking for somewhere special The Hand & Flowers is worth every penny. The food is incrediblygood and the atmosphere is so welcoming!

Strangely enough, Jack and I had planned to do no travelling throughout 2018. We knew we had a few financial commitments lined up including the complete overhaul of our garden. As you are probably aware from many of my recent blog posts we may have ended up on three European breaks, including Rome, Paris and Amsterdam; turns out 2018 has been filled with many amazing memories, that January lull didn’t last very long after all.

What To Expect As We Enter 2019?

Without giving too much away as all will be revealed throughout the course of the year, Jack and I have some exciting plans lined up. As we enter into 2019 I am starting my year off with butterflies in my belly rather than the January lull I began 2018 with. We are potentially going on a big trip and all will be shared with you’ll as the year unfolds.

Of course if you want to keep up-to-date don’t forget to subscribe; I would also love to hear what your up-coming plans are in the comment section below. Finally I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Don’t feel guilty about stuffing your face. We all did. However we must now do the responsible thing and work it all off. Also a hearty welcome to New York City. It is also ok to start your year off with butterflies in your belly. A new year is a time of excitement, expectation and dreamy hopefulness.

One thing hubby and I did throughout last year was to write special memories on slips of paper and put them in a special “blessing jar” hubby’s stepmom gave us for Christmas 2017. We read through all the blessings over this past weekend – had even forgotten about some of them – so it is amazing when we really don’t know what’s ahead in a year (day, week, month), but then are often pleasantly surprised when we reflect on the past events.
